YOUR SATURDAY SEVEN
Compiled by: Rob Martinez, December 11, 2021
It has been about 3 weeks since I have not posted a round of articles, here is Your Saturday Seven! Your Saturday Seven is a hand selection of seven articles from this week that will hopefully be a blessing to you! You can see more past articles here. Note: I do not necessarily fully endorse or agree with all content posted.
1. WHEN LIFE DOESN’T MAKE SENSE.
By: Joshua Bremerman, 12.11.21
“To fear God rightly is to remember our humanity. When we can’t see around the dark corner of life yet to come, no matter how much we want to, we remember our humanity. We remember that God is God, and we are not. He controls all things at all times at all places, and he is good.”
2. OVERNIGHT STORMS LEAVE DEATH & DESTRUCTION IN 5 STATES.
By: Brandon Porter, 12.11.21
“A line of severe storms ripped across five states under the cover of darkness Friday night and Saturday morning leaving death and destruction. Leaders in Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee began assessing the loss of life caused by the tornadoes and hurricane-force straight-line winds long before sunrise Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.”
3. ARE THERE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CHRIST’S HUMANITY AND OURS?
By: Robert Letham, 12.9.21
“What kind of human nature did Christ assume in the incarnation? Was it the nature of Adam before the fall, a sinless nature but with the potential to disobey God and fall into sin? Or did he take a fallen nature, like Adam and his successors after the fall, with an in-built bias to sin? Or was it a nature preserved from sin and its associated contamination, and, if so, how could he still be one with us?”
4. HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FINAL 3 YEARS (SPURGEON) S&T 1890-1892.
By: Geoff Chang, 12.9.21
“Here was the heart of the Downgrade debate: is the Bible the Word of God? The denominational newspapers ridiculed Spurgeon for his position. But Spurgeon challenged other Christians to come forward and avow their belief in the Word of God.”
5. THREE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIBLE…
By: Alistair Begg 12.7.21
“Jesus is the answer at the end of the book. Many who have tried to read the Bible front to back have given up early on (often partway through the laws about garments and dietary restrictions in Leviticus). But if you lose your way around the Bible, always turn your eyes back to Jesus, and He will gradually bring you to an even keel. “
6. WHO IS LOWER THAN THE ANGELS? (HEBREWS. 2:6-8)
By: Bill Mounce, 12.6.21 (10 min. video)
“The challenge of translating Hebrews 2:6–8 is that the original context (Psalm 8) was talking about people in general (plural), but the author of Hebrews rightly sees that it is messianic (singular) as does the author of Psalm 110:1 (Heb 2:8). So do you keep the original context or its messianic understanding, and do you try to find a way to represent both??
7. THE SUSTAINER OF CREATION & THE SAVIOR OF SINNERS.
By: John MacArthur, 12.8.21
“When you consider the baby in the Bethlehem shelter, you’re seeing more than an adorable child who grew up to be a good teacher and compassionate healer. Hebrews 1 confronts and challenges you to own an accurate understanding of the matchless person and work of Christ. “
